If I have to travel to a speacialist for a medical or dental appointment am I entitled to meals?

Yes, you are entitled to claim meals for yourself and a companion to travel with you to your appointment.

If I have lived with my boyfriend for 8 months and we have no children, do I have to claim common law?

Because you have not lived in a conjugal relationship for 12 consecutive months and have no children together, your marital status would be single.
